To
anyone interested in being a percussion player:
A.
Auditions
will be based on a four (4) part process:
B.
All
players will be on a five (5) week probation
C. Final selections will be made by audition scores
Listening
skills
Counting
skills
Prepared
exercises (played out of lesson book)
Sight
reading (playing an exercise that student has never seen)
D.
All
players must be willing to learn melodic percussion skills (bells)
E.
The
section will be limited to no less than three (3) and no more than five (5)
F.
For the
consideration of the students who are not selected; anyone who bumps
Some
one out of the section is expected to stay in band for the long run!
Terms: At the end of the five weak all percussion students will be auditioned and scored. Any and all percussionists not satisfactorily scoring in the top five (5) positions will no longer be a percussion student. At that time, students may switch to other instruments, or drop from the program. In your best financial interest, do not buy a snare drum kit until after your percussionist makes the final cut.
